Bihar: Man sentenced to life in prison for Dalit murder

Patna, Apr 19 (UNI) A special court in Patna on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him for killing a Dalit youth.
Judge Pankaj Chauhan of the Special Court for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act pronounced the sentence on Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of Patna's Airport police station area, after convicting him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
Special Public Prosecutor of the case, Shyam Nandan Kumar Singh alias Santosh Kumar, said that on April 14, 2023, the convict Dheeraj Kumar assaulted Ajit Kumar, a resident of Patna's Shastri Nagar police station area, seriously injured and killed him.
