Bhojpuri film ‘Chhath’ to represent at IFFI 2025

New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) National Award-winning filmmaker Nitin Chandra’s Bhojpuri film ‘Chhath’ has been officially selected for the Indian Panorama section at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa 2025.
A heartfelt tribute to the cultural richness of Bihar, Chhath captures the devotion, discipline, and profound faith surrounding one of India’s most sacred festivals, also named Chhath.
The film, which stars Deepak Singh in the lead role, premiered earlier this year on the Waves OTT platform. Producer Neetu Chandra expressed her delight over the selection, calling it a “proud and emotional moment” for the team.
Sharing the news on social media, she said, “Only the 2nd or 3rd time ever a Bhojpuri film will be showcased at IFFI. To see our language, stories, and culture shine on such a grand stage is a huge leap for Bhojpuri cinema.”
Director Nitin Neera Chandra added, “This recognition is not just for our film but for Bihar and its people. Through Chhath, we wanted to show the grace, resilience, and pride that define our culture.”
Sharing a joint post on Instagram, Nitin and Neetu Chandra wrote, “A proud and emotional moment for us all! Our film “Chhath” has been officially selected for IFFI, Goa 2025! This is truly special — only the 2nd or 3rd time ever a Bhojpuri film will be showcased at IFFI. To see our language, stories, and culture shine on such a grand stage is a huge leap for Bhojpuri cinema.”
“Chhath is not just a film, it’s faith, devotion, and the earthy soul of Bihar captured on screen. Gratitude to our incredible team, our visionary producers and everyone who believed in this journey. This one’s for Bihar’s cinema, for Bhojpuri storytellers, and for every voice that refuses to fade. See you at IFFI, Goa!,” they added.
The sibling duo of Nitin and Neetu Chandra has been dedicated to reshaping the image of Bihar in Indian cinema, highlighting the state’s talent, traditions, and stories.
Neetu Chandra emphasized, “With every project, we strive to bring respect and positive attention back to our home state. Being selected for Indian Panorama is an honor that motivates us to keep telling such stories.”
Chhath premiered on October 24, 2025, on the Waves OTT platform and is set to represent Bhojpuri cinema on one of India’s most prestigious cinematic stages.
