Belinda Bencic reaches first Wimbledon semifinal

London, July 9 (UNI) A new Wimbledon women's singles champion will be crowned this year, and Switzerland's Belinda Bencic has moved one step closer to that honour after a composed and tactical straight-sets win over rising Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals today.
The 28-year-old Bencic, playing in her second Grand Slam since returning to the tour after giving birth last year, prevailed 7-6(5), 7-6(2) in a match that showcased her experience, mental resilience, and tactical mastery on grass.
Using her sliced serve to perfection, Bencic pulled Andreeva wide and low, disrupting the teenager's timing and keeping her out of her comfort zone. Although not armed with the fastest serve on tour, Bencic won an impressive 73 percent of points on her first delivery, showing remarkable precision under pressure.
