Bareilly school headmistress arrested for Rs 50,000 bribe

Bareilly, Sep 11 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Organisation of the Uttar Pradesh police have arrested the headmistress of a government primary school after she was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
Sarita Verma, a resident of Chandraguptpuram locality in the Baradari police station area, was allegedly demanding money from a contractor Rajkumar as commission to clear bills for construction work carried out at the school in Myudi Khurd village under the Bithri Chainpur Block.
According to Rajkumar, the headmistress had been deliberately delaying the payment process and insisted that the commission was not for her but for senior officials in the department. She reportedly told him that no payment for previous construction work had been made without commission being paid.
