Banking system backbone of rural farmers: Telangana Deputy CM

Hyderabad, Feb 14 (UNI) Emphasing the crucial role of the banking system in supporting rural farmers Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka urged financial institutions to step forward in extending their assistance.
Speaking at the NABARD State Credit Seminar held at a private hotel in Begumpet on Friday, the Deputy CM stated that the Telangana government is giving top priority to the agriculture sector. He highlighted that Telangana has secured the top position in the country for paddy cultivation.
Criticising the previous BRS government for neglecting the agriculture sector, Vikramarka urged NABARD to support initiatives such as drip irrigation and the promotion of oil palm cultivation. He cited Maharashtra’s large-scale mango exports and Kenya’s widespread use of mobile banking as examples of effective agricultural and financial models.
