Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader strongly condemned and protested the defamatory lies and distorted information presented by the illegal fascist Yunus regime against the Honorable Prime Minister, Awami League President, and daughter of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Hasina, as well as other members of the Bangabandhu family.
In the statement, he said: "The Bengali nation is eternally indebted to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Under his undisputed leadership, the Bengali nation achieved its long-cherished independence and sovereign state. Yet in today's Bangladesh, Bangabandhu and his family members are being subjected to slander and false propaganda purely for political reasons in a deliberate and organized manner."
He added that the illegal fascist occupiers led by Yunus have not only targeted the successful stateswoman Sheikh Hasina but also shamelessly spread lies and filed fabricated, baseless, and harassing corruption and murder cases against members of the Bangabandhu family. These include Sheikh Rehana, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, and Azmina Siddiq Ruponti. Many of these individuals are not even involved in national politics and were not even in the country when this conspiracy was being executed.
Saima Wazed Putul was elected as the Regional Director for the South-East Asia Region of the World Health Organization during its 76th session in November 2023. Previously, in 2014, she was selected as a Global Autism Advocate on WHO’s 25-member Expert Advisory Panel on Mental Health for a four-year term. Sajeeb Wazed Joy earned a higher degree from Harvard University and played a pivotal role in the ICT revolution in Bangladesh. Tulip Siddiq has been repeatedly elected as a Member of Parliament in the UK and is a former minister. Members of the Bangabandhu family have consistently brought honour to the country. Yet, false and fabricated corruption charges have been made against them.
Due to the conspiracy and defamation, Tulip Siddiq resigned from her ministerial position in the UK to maintain her transparency and accountability. These baseless corruption allegations are being used to continuously conduct malicious campaigns. As a result, Saima Wazed Putul has recently been placed on indefinite leave from her position as WHO Regional Director. These conspirators are not only tarnishing the reputation of the Bangabandhu family but also diminishing the image of Bangladesh on the global stage.
Raising the question — “Don’t members of the Bangabandhu family have the right to own a piece of land in Bangladesh?” — Obaidul Quader stated: "The government is attempting to create controversy over lands allocated to members of the family of the person under whose leadership we earned the 56,000 square miles of our homeland. What corruption is there in this? Why the label of corruption? This is nothing but an attempt to insult and even erase the Bangabandhu family."
In a separate statement, Obaidul Quader said there is no method of defamation that the illegal fascist Yunus regime has not tried against Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Recently, based on fabricated information provided by the government, the internationally renowned media outlet BBC released a report that included an 18-second manipulated audio clip falsely presented as the voice of Sheikh Hasina. This clip has no authenticity and was created using artificial intelligence. "I state with full responsibility," he said, "that this is not the voice of Sheikh Hasina, and I urge the people not to be misled. We believe that in time, the truth will emerge in its full glory. The people of Bangladesh have never accepted the humiliation of the Bangabandhu family before, and they will not accept it in the future, Insha’Allah."
