Bangladesh Home Affairs Advisor downplays concerns over Awami League's 'Dhaka Lockdown' on Nov 13

Dhaka, Nov 9 (UNI) Downplaying the Awami League's plan to hold a 'Dhaka lockdown' on November 13, Bangladesh Home Affairs Advisor Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has dismissed all speculation of unrest surrounding the banned party's call for demonstrations in the capital, saying there was "no cause for concern".
"There is no apprehension over the Awami League programme," Chowdhury told reporters after a meeting of the government's core committee on law and order at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Dhaka.
He also denied reports that 50% of the army personnel deployed across the country might soon be withdrawn, after several local media outlets on November 5 had reported that half the troops would be withdrawn from the field for conducting election-related security exercises, creating mass public confusion.
