Bangladesh Army Chief to address nation; PM Sheikh Hasina leaves Dhaka for 'safer place'

Dhaka, Aug 5 (UNI) Amidst spiralling violence and massive countrywide protests, the Bangladesh Army chief General Waker-uz-Zaman is set to address the nation at 3pm. There are reports that PM Sheikh Hasina has left the capital Dhaka in the face of mass protests demanding her resignation.
Reports of demonstrations have come in from places like Jatrabari, the Central Shaheed Minar, Badda, Uttara, and Mirpur.
People started coming out onto the streets around 1:30pm on Monday.
