Bandi Sanjay slams Speaker’s verdict on disqualification petitions, says democracy under threat

Hyderabad, Mar 11 (UNI) Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday strongly criticised the dismissal of disqualification petitions against MLAs Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender, calling the decision “atrocious” and alleging that it undermines democratic principles.
In a post on social media platform X, Bandi Sanjay said the verdict delivered by Gaddam Prasad Kumar reflected poorly on the functioning of the legislature under the Indian National Congress government in Telangana.
He alleged that although the two leaders were elected as MLAs on the ticket of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and later contested elections on behalf of the Congress, the disqualification provisions were not enforced. According to him, such decisions could encourage defections and weaken democratic values.
