Ban on RSS improper: Pejawar seer

Mangaluru, Oct 13 (UNI) Seer of Udupi Pejawar Mutt, Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami, today said it would not be proper to ban the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Karnataka, amid a political row over Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge’s demand to prohibit RSS programmes in government institutions and public premises.
Speaking to reporters in Udupi, the seer expressed confidence that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would take an appropriate decision after reviewing the minister’s proposal. "Kharge has every right to express his opinion, but I am confident that the Chief Minister will consult all concerned before taking a call," he said.
Defending the organisation, the seer said the RSS has rendered invaluable services to the nation, particularly during natural disasters. "The RSS has been serving the country for the past 100 years and will continue to do so in the future. We should recognise its contributions to the nation," he remarked.
