Baldota Group to setup Rs 54,000-crore mega steel plant in Karnataka

Koppal, Feb 10 (UNI) Karnataka-based Baldota Group is set to achieve a major milestone with the establishment of a mega steel plant in Koppal taluk.
The company is investing Rs 54,000 crore to set up an integrated steel plant with a production capacity of 10.50 million tons per annum. As part of this initiative, a Memorandum of Agreement will be signed during the Global Investors' Meet on February 11 (Tuesday), in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Announcing this development, Rahul Kumar N Baldota, Joint Managing Director of Baldota Group, said the new steel plant will operate under the name Baldota Steel and Power Limited (BSPL). He emphasised that the project would significantly boost steel production in Karnataka and generate largescale employment opportunities for locals.
"Our vision is to position Baldota as a leading company in the country. This project will undoubtedly become Karnataka’s pride in the steel industry," he added.
The Baldota Group is a prominent player in mineral exploration, mining, industrial gases, pellet production, wind power, shipping, and waste treatment products. It also operates iron ore mines in Karnataka.
With a 70-year legacy in mining, the company has received the five-star rating award from the Centre for six consecutive years. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Baldota Group has planted two million trees and adopted 20 villages, contributing to education, healthcare, sanitation, and women empowerment in rural areas.
