Baba Siddiqui murder case: Two accused remanded in police custody till Oct 21

Mumbai, Oct 13 (UNI) A court here on Sunday remanded in police custody till October 21 two suspects involved in alleged shooting of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui who was gunned down on Saturday evening at Bandra, a western suburb.
Accused, Gurmel Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, both in their 20s, were produced before the Esplanade Court this afternoon amidst heavy police protection.
Before being produced in the court, they were taken to a government-run G T hospital for a medical check-up.
According to sources, while moving the remand application, the Mumbai Crime Branch sought their police custody for 14 days on the grounds that the accused were involved in the crime and needed their custodial interrogation for an in-depth probe.
The court was also told that the third accused involved in the case is at large and yet to be arrested and police have recovered 28 live bullets in possession of the accused.
Police further told the court that they are ready to conduct an ossification test of one of the accused to find out his exact age.
According to prosecutor, the accused had done a recce of Baba Siddiqui's house and office premises, they were in Mumbai for about one-and-a-half to two months and were keeping an eye on him.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that the trial of Baba Siddique's murder case will take place in a fast-track court.
Encounter specialist Daya Nayak will investigate the incident, he added.
