Vancouver, June 14 (UNI) Nestory Irankunda delivered a defining moment on the World Cup stage on Sunday, becoming the youngest Socceroos player ever to score at a FIFA World Cup against Turkiye in their Group D clash at BC Place.
The breakthrough arrived in the 27th minute when Irankunda produced a dazzling solo effort, accelerating past three defenders before keeping his composure to finish low into the bottom corner. The goal stunned the Turkish defence and ignited the Australian supporters as the Socceroos seized control of the contest.
The move was initiated by a long forward pass from Paul Okon-Engstler, which Irankunda latched onto before unleashing his trademark pace and direct attacking style to decisive effect.
