Australia keep McDonald as Coach through 2027

Australia keep McDonald as Coach through 2027

Sydney, Oct 30 (UNI) Australia’s national men's cricket team will be under the continued leadership of head coach Andrew McDonald for at least three more years, following his contract extension signed on Wednesday.
This new agreement will keep McDonald at the helm until the end of 2027.
Since taking over from Justin Langer in 2022, McDonald has led Australia through a successful period, culminating in the team’s historic achievements in 2023. Under his guidance, Australia clinched its first ICC World Test Championship title and the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, marking a golden year for Australian cricket.
Looking ahead, McDonald will have the opportunity to defend both trophies, steering the national team through the next complete cycle of the World Test Championship (2025-27) and preparing for the 50-over World Cup in 2027.
Currently, Australia holds the title of the No.1 Test team in the world, while ranking No.2 in both ODI and T20I formats. McDonald expressed his gratitude for the hard work and dedication shown by players and coaching staff, which has contributed to the team’s success.
"I am very fortunate to have an exceptional group of leaders, players, coaches, and staff who are fully invested in the ongoing well-being, success, and development of this group," McDonald said.

He continued, "The professionalism, commitment, and experience of my fellow coaches and the wider staff have ensured the journey has been extremely successful, but just as importantly, created a culture of unity, trust, and inclusivity."
As McDonald prepares for the upcoming challenges, he remains focused on fostering a positive environment for both players and staff, reinforcing the team’s commitment to excellence in international cricket.
