Atishi remarks row: Only Speaker can probe remarks made in Assembly, says Swaraj

New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Sunday, with regard to the alleged remarks made by AAP leader Atishi in the Delhi Assembly over Gurus, has said that if any statement is made in the House, it is to be probed solely by the speaker, being the chair's legal right.
However, in the haste to protect Atishi, the Punjab Police was allegedly misused and ordered to conduct an investigation, which does not even fall under its jurisdiction, Swaraj stated in connection with a video related to Atishi's remarks.
Hitting out at the AAP, Swaraj said that it has become a pattern of the party to "misuse" government machinery to suppress democracy, the media, and any form of criticism.
