ATGC Biotech and Luxembourg Industries form Indo–Israeli JV ‘Semiophore Ltd.’

Hyderabad, Dec 9 (UNI) ATGC Biotech, a leading Indian innovator in pheromone and semiochemical-based crop protection, on Tuesday announced the establishment of ‘Semiophore Ltd’, a 50:50 Indo–Israeli joint venture with Israel’s Luxembourg Industries Ltd.
The announcement was made during the Valedictory Session of the First International Science & Technology Clusters Conference held in New Delhi , Hyderabad based ATGC Biotech said in a release here on Tuesday.
Under Semiophore JV, ATGC Biotech and Luxembourg Industries will jointly invest USD 10 million toward infrastructure in India and Israel and regulatory registrations for 18 Indian-developed semiochemical and pheromone technologies across Israel, Brazil, Australia and multiple African markets.
These 18 licensed products target a multi-billion-dollar global market for sustainable pest management.
Under the JV agreement, ATGC Biotech will provide intellectual property, R&D leadership, regulatory dossiers and technology, while Luxembourg Industries will invest in capex, manufacturing, regulatory processes and marketing.
Semiophore aims to commercialise next-generation, material science–integrated delivery systems that use minimal pheromone chemistry while offering season-long, precision application. These solutions are designed to be: Water-free and residue-free; Pollinator-safe; Capable of reducing insecticide dependency; Lower in CO₂e, water and plastic footprints.
The JV will scale 18 technologies ranging from mating disruption to attract-and-kill and aggregation systems across crops, including grapes, apples, citrus, almonds, tomatoes, cotton, corn, cabbage, cauliflower and avocados.
Fares Saeb, Deputy Ambassador of Israel to India, said, “Today’s licensing exchange marks an important step in expanding sustainable, environmentally safe crop protection. Semiophore reflects the growing global impact of Indo–Israeli innovation.”
Uri Rubinstein, Agriculture Attaché, MASHAV said “ATGC Biotech has been a strong partner in Israel’s capacity-building programs across India. Semiophore represents a meaningful extension of Indo–Israel cooperation in advanced agriculture.”
Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT) said, “This JV showcases the strength of India’s biotechnology ecosystem. For the first time, DBT- and BIRAC-supported semiochemical technologies will be manufactured and distributed in Israel.”
Speaking on behalf of the ATGC leadership team, Prof. Arjula R. Reddy, Rolando Alegria CEO , Dr. V.B. Reddy Executive Director and Dr. Markandeya Gorantla, Chairman and Managing Director, ATGC Biotech, said “This is a defining moment for India’s bioeconomy. For the first time, Indian-developed semiochemical technologies will be manufactured and commercialized in Israel, marking a new chapter in Indo-Israeli scientific and industrial cooperation.
Semiophore will begin initial commercial batches in 2026 and scale to full capacity in 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, , they added.
