Atal’s fifty, Omarzai's blitz power Afghanistan to big win in Asia Cup opener

Abu Dhabi, Sept 9 (UNI) Afghanistan rode on brilliant batting displays from Sediqullah Atal and Azmatullah Omarzai to post 188 for six and cruise to a commanding 94-run victory over Hong Kong in their Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 Group B opener at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium here tonight.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, Afghanistan faced early jitters as Rahmanullah Gurbaz (8) and Ibrahim Zadran (1) fell cheaply against disciplined Hong Kong bowling.
Gurbaz, in particular, continued his poor run on slow pitches, miscued a full delivery from Ayush Shukla, and was caught by Nizakat Khan in the second over. Zadran fell in similar fashion in the third over, offering Zeeshan Ali an easy catch.
