Assailants attack Congress candidate’s husband in Nanded; flee with bag

Nanded, Jan 14 (UNI) An incident involving an alleged attempt to attack the husband of a Congress candidate took place in Nanded on Tuesday night. The victim narrowly escaped unhurt as the assailants missed the target.
The incident occurred in Ward No. 1, where Congress candidate Sarika Bhalerav’s husband, Shivaji Bhalerav, was sitting on a chair outside his residence in Shankarnagar. A bag containing clothes belonging to a guest was placed beside him.
Around the same time, six unidentified youths arrived on three two-wheelers and suddenly attacked Bhalerav with a sword. He managed to defend himself by lifting the chair, thereby avoiding injury. The attackers then grabbed the bag and fled the scene on their motorcycles.
