Ashoka slams Karnataka govt for paper ballot reversion

Bengaluru, Jan 21 (UNI) Karnataka Assembly Leader of Opposition R Ashoka has sharply criticised the state government’s decision to revert to paper ballots for the Greater Bengaluru Authority elections, saying the move undermines voter confidence and threatens the city’s technological legacy.
Even though the state’s own survey confirmed widespread public trust in electronic voting machines (EVMs), Ashoka said the Congress government’s decision reflects fear and political insecurity rather than electoral reform or fairness.
“Bengaluru is India’s tech capital and home to Bharat Electronics Limited, the manufacturer of EVMs. A city celebrated globally as the Silicon Valley of India is now being dragged backwards under Congress rule,” he said.
