Ashok Leyland breaks ground for new Battery Pack manufacturing facility near Chennai

Chennai, Mar 11 (UNI) Leading CV makers Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of Hinduja Group, on Wednesday conducted the ground breaking event for its greenfield battery pack manufacturing facility at Pillaipakkam near Chennai, reinforcing its commitment to advancing India’s electric mobility ecosystem.
The project would incur investment of Rs. 400-500 crore and is part of the investments from Hinduja Group as per an earlier MOU signed in September 2025.
The new Battery Pack project aligns closely with Tamil Nadu’s Electric Vehicle Policy 2023, the National Mission on Transformative Mobility and Battery Storage, and India’s vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
