Arunachal: Counterfeit currency racket busted in Naharlagun; 4 arrested

Itanagar, Dec 6 (UNI) Police in Naharlagun busted a counterfeit currency racket and arrested four persons and recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 1,12,000, a senior police officer said on Saturday.
According to Naharlagun Superintendent of Police, Dr Nyelam Nega, the case originated on December 2, when a written FIR was received reporting that two unidentified persons had attempted to purchase groceries using counterfeit currency at Polo Colony, Naharlagun. On being questioned by the shopkeeper, the suspects fled the scene, and subsequently, a case (No. 164/2025) was registered under Sections 178/179/180/3(5) of the BNS.
Acting on human intelligence inputs, the SP said, police identified and apprehended one suspect, Taba Rajiv (18), resident of Gohpur, Itanagar. Based on his disclosure, a police team led by Naharlagun PS Officer-in-Charge (OC) Inspector Krishnendu Dev, along with SI Vivek Linggi, SI Niri Rama, head constables TK Kochi, S Bagang, T Nimey, and constables Sanu Raj, and Debojit Borah, was formed and conducted raids at various locations around midnight under the supervision of Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo.
