Arab League vows support for Syria, calls for end to sanctions

Damascus, Dec 8 (UNI) The League of Arab States called on those interested in achieving regional and international stability on Sunday to support the Syrian people during the upcoming power transition, including by lifting sanctions.
"The Secretary General calls on all powers interested in achieving regional and international stability to support the Syrian people during this challenging transitional period, including by lifting any sanctions," the organization said in a statement.
The Arab League said Syria was going through one of the most important and dangerous periods in its modern history, adding that it required all Syrians to uphold the concepts of tolerance and dialogue, place the interests of the nation above everything else, act responsibly, and work to complete the power transition in a peaceful and comprehensive manner.
