AP: Transport Minister warns private bus operators of action if fares hiked

Vijayawada, Jan 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Transport M Prasad Reddy warned the private bus operators of action if the bus fares were hiked taking advantage of heavy passenger rush in view of Sankranthi festival.
In a release here on Tuesday, the Minister warned of seizing private buses, if the fares were hiked exorbitantly, taking advantage of Sankranthi festival rush. He said that the officials are inspecting the private buses. If the private bus operators hiked the bus fares, the buses would be seized by the officials, he added.
The Minister made it clear that free bus travel for women would be implemented even with heavy passenger rush during the three day Sankranthi festival. He also informed that the APSRTC has not hiked bus fares during the Sankranthi festival days, stating that it is a Sankranthi festival to the people of the state from the Government. He recalled that the APSRTC has not hiked bus fares during the last one year.
