AP: Sarpanches stage dharna protesting against diverson of panchayat funds

Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 1 (UNI) Sarpanches in large number have staged a dharna under the aegis of AP Panchayat Raj Chamber protesting against the diversion of panchayat funds and also demanding restoration of powers to them, in front of the Collectorate here on Friday.

Tension prevailed at the Collectorate for quite some time with police blocking the entry into Collectorateby putting up barricades and the Sarpanches trying to gate crash leading to scuffle between police and protesters.
