AP: Peddapuram Maridamma `Jaathara’ to draw over 10 lakh devotees

Kakinada, June 24 (UNI) Over ten lakh devotees from across Andhra Pradesh are expected to throng the holy shrine of Peddapuram town to have a darshan of the Village deity Maridamma during the five week long festival (Jathara) commencing from June 25.
The Maridamma Deity `Ashada Jaathara ‘will be held on a grand scale on the lines of Sammakka- Sarakka Jatara in Telangana . The endowments department made elaborate arrangements to ensure more devotees to have darshan and offer special poojas with much devotion.
Temple executive officer K .Vijayalakshmi and Hereditary trustee and chairman Dr Chinthapalli Brahmaji said during five weeks a variety of cultural programmes such as Thappeta Gullu, Pedda Puli (tiger) Aata, Sulaala Sambaram, Goddess Kalika Devi Avatars, Kantara and Aghoras were being arranged . On Tuesdays and Fridays evenings Mass Kumkum Pooja will be performed.
