AP: Most diabetic foot amputations can be prevented with early treatment: Expert

Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh), July 14 (UNI) Most diabetic foot amputations can be prevented through early diagnosis, timely medical intervention and proper diabetes management, according to Dr Kammiti Varuntez, Consultant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon at KIMS Saveera, Anantapur.
Ahead of Plastic Surgeon Day, Dr Varuntez said even minor injuries such as cuts, blisters, thorn pricks or cracked heels could become serious in people with diabetes if left untreated.
He explained that diabetes often damages nerves in the feet, reducing the ability to feel pain, while poor blood circulation delays wound healing and increases the risk of infection.
