AP: Midday meal scheme workers stir demanding payment of wage arrears

Kakinada, Feb 12 (UNI) Midday Meal scheme workers owing allegiance to CITU led union, staged a 'dharna' in front of the office of the district Educational officer here on Wednesday demanding payment of wage arrears, stoppage of the political harassment and illegal retrenchment.
They raised slogans demanding enhancement of student menu charges to the midday meal scheme workers to Rs 20 in tune with the rising prices and hiking of wages of sanitation workers working in schools besides reinstatement of workers removed under political pressures.
Union district convener Narla Esweri and CITU district president Duvva Seshu Babji while addressing the demonstrators warned the government of launching a statewide agitation in support of the midday meal scheme workers, if their problems are not solved amicably.
