AP: Japan’s Fukuoka business delegation eyes investment, expansion opportunities at Sri City

Sri City (Tirupati dist), Feb 6 (UNI) In a move highlighting deepening Indo-Japanese economic engagement, a seven-member business delegation from the Fukuoka Foreign Trade Association (FFTA), Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, visited Sri City on Friday to explore investment opportunities and industrial partnerships.
Led by Masahiro Nishiyori, Secretary General, FFTA, the delegation interacted with the Sri City leadership to assess the township’s manufacturing ecosystem, infrastructure readiness, and growth potential for Japanese companies, particularly small and medium enterprises.
Welcoming the delegation, Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director, Sri City, said the visit reflects growing confidence among Japanese investors in India’s industrial corridors.
He noted that Sri City has evolved into a global manufacturing and services hub with over 240 companies from 31 countries, including more than 35 Japanese firms, supported by a robust OEM and supplier base.
A business presentation by Bodgan George, Assistant Vice President (Business Development), outlined Sri City’s sectoral strengths, sustainability-led development, plug-and-play infrastructure, and investor-centric policies.
The delegation was also briefed on the Andhra Pradesh government’s ‘Speed of Doing Business’ framework, which ensures faster clearances and customised incentives, enhancing the state’s attractiveness for foreign direct investment.
Observing that Sri City has been identified as one of India’s most promising investment destinations, Mr. Nishiyori said the visit aimed at identifying scalable business opportunities and facilitating Japanese companies planning India entry or expansion.
He added that Sri City offers a strong platform for long-term manufacturing and supply chain integration.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the industrial township and held discussions with senior executives at Isuzu Motors, gaining insights into operational advantages and localisation opportunities.
