AP: 195 red sander logs worth over Rs 4.20 cr seized, 8 interstate smugglers arrested

Tirupati, Feb 6 (UNI) The Red Sander Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) police team seized 195 red sander logs worth more than Rs 4.20 crore at Kovitoni tank in the forest area near Veeraballi village in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh .
Police said here on Thursday that on the directions of RSASTF Superintendent of Police L Subba Rayudu, a RSASTF team conducted combing at the forest area near Veeraballi on Wednesday.
The Task Force team noticed one parked motorcycle and a stationary car. On seeing the police, the smugglers started fleeing into the forest. However, the task force personnel chased and apprehended 8 smugglers while others managed to escape into the forest.
