Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeats Sonay Kartal

London, July 6 (UNI) A booming clap of thunder echoed across Centre Court as Sonay Kartal and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova stepped out for their high-stakes Round of 16 clash at Wimbledon 2025, an omen, perhaps, of the drama that was to unfold.
In a match marked by resilience and raw emotion, 34-year-old Pavlyuchenkova drew from deep wells of experience and determination to oust Britain’s Kartal 7-6(3), 6-4.
It was a stirring win for the Russian, who has endured a career-threatening knee injury and, more recently, a diagnosis of Lyme disease just five months ago.
