Amravati doctors remove 2-Kg head and neck tumour in complex surgery

Amravati, Nov 8(UNI): A team of specialists at the Super Specialty Hospital in Maharashtra's Amravati has successfully removed a rare two-kilogram tumour from the throat of a 53-year-old patient suffering from head and neck cancer. The complex operation is being hailed as the first of its kind in the district, medical officials said on Saturday .
According to hospital officials, the patient, a resident of Amravati, weighed over 200 kilograms, making the procedure extremely challenging.
The cancerous growth had spread across multiple regions including the tongue, throat, back of the neck and blood vessels affecting the oropharynx, laryngopharynx and nasopharynx.
