Amit Shah chairs Eastern Zonal Council meet, focuses on settlement of long-pending issues

Ranchi, July 10 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired the 27th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council in Ranchi. The meeting was attended by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and West Bengal Minister of State for Finance Chandrima Bhattacharya.
Chief Secretaries of the four member states—Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal—along with senior officials from the Centre also participated.
Organised by the Inter-State Council Secretariat of the Ministry of Home Affairs in coordination with the Jharkhand government, the meeting focused on long-pending inter-state issues, including water resource sharing, asset division of PSUs post Bihar’s bifurcation, and implementation of new criminal laws.

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 (UNI) Environmental activists and people’s movement leaders on Tuesday launched a strong opposition to what they described as the Odisha government’s indiscriminate granting of bauxite mining leases, warning that large-scale mining in the Eastern Ghats could destroy forests, deplete water sources and threaten the livelihoods of thousands of tribal and rural families.

Odisha Court jails man for using bank account in cyber fraud

Tejashwi alleges 'discrimination' in Bihar teacher transfers, seeks Urdu, Sanskrit teachers in every school

Patna, Aug 11 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has demanded immediate cancellation of the improper transfers of Urdu, Arabic and Persian teachers in government schools in Bihar, prompt payment of the pending salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff of aided madrasas and Sanskrit schools, and the posting of Urdu and Sanskrit teachers in every government school.
