Amethi: Tubewell dept clerk arrested taking Rs 15,000 bribe

Amethi, Feb 19 (UNI) An anti-corruption organization team on Thursday arrested a clerk from the Tubewell Department in Amethi while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The accused was taken to Munshiganj Police Station for questioning, and further legal proceedings are underway.
According to officials, the complainant, Brijesh Singh, a resident of Piparpur village, retired from the post of driver on January 21, 2026. He had visited the department office to process payments related to his service benefits.
The accused clerk, identified as Ehsan Ahmad, allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 to move forward with the payment process. Distressed by the demand, Singh lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Organization team.
