Amazon expresses interest in expanding data centre operations in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (UNI) Amazon has expressed interest in expanding its data centre operations in Hyderabad, Telangana.
Telangana IT and Industry Minister D Sridhar Babu is currently on a U.S. tour with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, met with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Vice President of Data Centre Planning and Delivery, Kerry Person, on Saturday. Discussions centred around the expansion of data centre operations in Telangana.
Amazon has already established a significant presence in Telangana. The company’s largest corporate building worldwide is located in Hyderabad. Additionally, Amazon launched its dedicated air cargo network, 'Amazon Air,' last year.
Currently, three data centres for Amazon Web Services (AWS) are operational in Hyderabad. During the meeting, company representatives shared plans to expand their operations, including the development of a new hyperscale data centre offering artificial intelligence and machine learning-based services.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sridhar Babu announced that negotiations with Amazon have been successful. He assured that the government will provide adequate support and attractive incentives for the company's expansion plans. The minister expressed confidence that Amazon would pursue significant expansion in the state.
Kerry Person, Vice President of Amazon Web Services, stated that they are excited about the opportunity to further expand their cloud facilities in Hyderabad.
He highlighted that Hyderabad is poised to play a crucial role in the growth of Amazon Web Services' cloud offerings, particularly in artificial intelligence.
He added that Amazon’s collaboration would support the Telangana government in achieving its digital growth objectives, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
