Akshay Kumar, Ahmed Khan revive iconic ‘Welcome’ music for ‘Welcome to the Jungle’

Mumbai, June 16 (UNI): Nearly two decades after collaborating on the original "Welcome" title track, actor Akshay Kumar and director-choreographer Ahmed Khan have joined hands for "Welcome to the Jungle", the latest instalment in the popular comedy franchise.
Khan has a special relationship with this franchise. He choreographed the memorable title track for the 2007 blockbuster "Welcome", featuring Akshay Kumar. Now, 19 years later, he returns to the franchise as the director of "Welcome to the Jungle". This is also his first collaboration with Kumar as a director.
This time, the collaboration extends to the film's iconic music. To evoke nostalgia associated with the franchise, the makers have reintroduced some of Welcome's most popular musical elements, including the iconic title track and the superhit song "Uncha Lamba Kad."
According to sources close to the film, Kumar, Khan and the producers wanted to keep the spirit of the original songs intact but present them in a new style and on a larger scale for the new generation audience.
The source said, "People have many memories associated with the Welcome franchise, especially its music. Ahmed Khan was a part of the title track of the original film, so reviving that legacy after nearly two decades was very special for the entire team. The effort was to maintain the old identity of the songs, but present them on a new scale and in a new style, befitting Welcome to the Jungle."
The recently released song "Uncha Lamba Kad Forever," starring Kumar and Disha Patani, has already generated widespread buzz on social media. For many fans, the song still evokes memories of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif's pairing in the 2007 film. The song's special tribute to Katrina has also won fans over.
Industry insiders believe that reintroducing old songs and musical elements is a key part of the film's marketing strategy. This is both engaging audiences who grew up with "Welcome" and engaging a new generation with the franchise for the first time.
The film also features Suneil Shetty, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Aftab Shivdasani, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela and the late Pankaj Dheer.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, Welcome to the Jungle is presented by A.A. Nadiadwala, Cape of Good Films, and Star Studio 18 in association with Sita Films and Rakesh Dang. It is a Base Industries Group production, billed by Rakesh Dang and Vedant Vikas Bali. The film is produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala.
"Welcome to the Jungle" is set to release in theaters on June 26, 2026.
