Akola hottest in India, ranks second globally; heatwave grips Vidarbha

Nagpur, April 14 (UNI): Akola emerged as the hottest city in India, recording a maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius, while also ranking as the second hottest city globally, as a severe heatwave swept across the Vidarbha region, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures have risen sharply following recent unseasonal rainfall, intensifying summer conditions across the region.
Akola retained its position as the country's hottest city for the second consecutive day.
