Ajmal seeks Centre, Arunachal Govt intervention over alleged harassment of Muslim community

Itanagar, Dec 6 (UNI) AIUDF President and former Assam MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has written to union Home Minister Amit Shah, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik and Chief Minister Pema Khandu, seeking urgent intervention into what he described as incidents of harassment targeting Muslims and Islamic places of worship by certain individuals in Arunachal Pradesh.
In his letters, Ajmal stated that over the past one and a half months, he has been receiving complaints from people who have been legally residing in Arunachal Pradesh for decades and are engaged in business, service, and labour sectors, having come from Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and other states in search of livelihood.
According to the AIUDF chief, instances of harassment against Muslims, including both local residents of Arunachal Pradesh and people from other states of India, have allegedly occurred in various parts of the state, particularly in and around the capital city of Itanagar. He claimed that Imams and Muazzins (those who lead prayers and give the call to prayer) have been specifically targeted and that there have been cases of disrespect towards mosques and physical assaults on Imams.
