Ajit Navale slams Govt policies for farmer debt crisis, Bawankule defends Vikhhe Patil’s remarks

Mumbai, Nov 8 ( UNI) Farmer leader Ajit Navale today criticised the government’s policies here on Saturday, saying they are responsible for pushing farmers into debt. He said that instead of making careless statements on farm loan waivers, the government should first study why farmers fall into debt.
Restrictions on the import and export of agricultural produce and the artificial lowering of farm prices in the name of controlling inflation have forced farmers into debt,.Navale said. He added that senior ministers should consider these realities before commenting on loan waivers.
The remarks came after senior cabinet minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil recently stated that farmers first take loans and later demand waivers, a comment that has sparked widespread outrage on social media and among farmers.
