Aircraft lands safely after kite thread got entangled in its wing

Solapur, Nov 6 (UNI) An aircraft carrying thirty-four passengers made a safe landing at Solapur Airport in Maharashtra after a nylon kite thread got entangled in one of its wings during the landing process. Following the incident, Solapur Police today registered a case against a shopkeeper accused of selling nylon kite thread in the vicinity of the airport.
According to police officials investigating the matter, two minor children had approached the security boundary of Solapur Airport near the Phandkar runway yesterday afternoon and began flying kites in the area. Around 2 p.m., a flight from Mumbai arrived at Solapur with thirty-four passengers on board. During the aircraft’s landing manoeuvre, a nylon kite thread became lodged in the aircraft’s wing structure.
The pilot, who noticed the situation promptly, displayed exceptional alertness and handled the aircraft with great caution, ensuring a secure landing and averting what could have been a serious accident. All passengers were reported safe. Subsequent enquiries revealed that the kite had been flown by the two minors within the restricted airport vicinity.
