AIDUF, Congress criticise Assam govt's decision to drop former Prez's name from medical college

Guwahati, March 11 (UNI) The Assam Cabinet's decision to drop the name of former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed from the Barpeta Medical College om.Wedneaday drew sharp reaction from the Congress and Badruddin Ajmal led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
The AIUDF Chief condemned the decision and said that there is no reason behind dropping the former President's name from the medical College.
"We have all tried very hard to get the medical College named after the former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, who hails from Barpeta in Assam," said Ajmal while talking to newspersons.

Meghalaya cabinet recognises Khasi and Garo as official languages

Shillong, Apr 16 (UNI) Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday said that the State Cabinet has approved the Meghalaya Official Languages Ordinance, 2026, recognising Khasi and Garo as official languages alongside English, and has decided to repeal the Meghalaya State Language Act, 2005.
