AI will augment, not replace, human capability: IBM Executive Partner

Hyderabad, Sep 13 (UNI) IBM Executive Partner Anuradha said today that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has existed since lomg and it will augment, not replace, human capability.
“AI (Artificial Intelligence) has existed since the 1990s—Kasparov’s ‘Advanced Chess’ proved it can augment, not replace, human capability" said Anuradha.
In her keynote address at the workshop on 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Women’ organized by the Ladies Wing Committee of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) here on Friday, Anuradha recalled how in 1997 Garry Kasparov lost to IBM’s Deep Blue, a landmark moment proving computers could rival world champions in chess. “But instead of resisting, Kasparov proposed a new format in 1998 called Advanced Chess (or Centaur Chess), where humans teamed up with machines. It showed that AI could augment human capability, not replace it.

Lightning strike kills four students, injures three in Kerala’s Malappuram

Kozhikode, May 12 (UNI) Four students died after being struck by lightning, while three others were injured, at Mankada in Kerala’s Malappuram district.
The deceased have been identified as Rahees (20), Vahas (18), Siad (18) and Fahad (19), all natives of Vellila.
Three others were injured and are currently undergoing treatment at the Manjeri Medical College Hospital.
