After Raj and DK, Salman Khan to join hands with Farhan Akhtar for a massive period drama

Mumbai, July 17 (UNI) Bollywood star Salman Khan is reportedly in advanced discussions with filmmaker-producer Farhan Akhtar for a large-scale period drama inspired by one of the most revered figures in Indian history.
Sources close to the development reveal that the two have been meeting regularly over the past month to discuss the project, which is envisioned as a large-scale theatrical spectacle. The 60-year-old actor is said to have responded positively to the story and scale of the project, which is being planned as a theatrical action spectacle.
"Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar have been meeting regularly over the last month and discussing a potential collaboration. Salman has loved what he has heard so far and has shown keen interest in the project. The talks are still at an early stage and have not yet reached the paperwork phase, but both sides are excited about the possibility of coming together for the first time," reports Pinkvilla.
Although negotiations are still in the preliminary stages and no formal agreements have been signed, both sides are understood to be optimistic about the possibility of collaborating.
If everything falls into place, the untitled period drama could become Khan’s next feature after his superhero comedy with Raj and DK.
At present, Khan is occupied with the shoot of director Vamshi Paidipally’s action entertainer and is expected to commence work on the Raj and DK film in October 2026. The proposed period film will be backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment and is likely to go on floors in the summer of 2027.
While the director's name is being kept under wraps for now, sources confirm that Akhtar is attached to the project strictly as a producer and will not be directing the film. UNI NST CDS
