Advocates’ Association calls for court boycott, white ribbon protest

Ranchi, July 9 (UNI) The Advocates’ Association of Jharkhand High Court has announced a one-day abstention from judicial work on July 10 (Thursday), followed by a symbolic white ribbon protest starting July 11(Friday). The decisions were unanimously adopted during a General Body Meeting held today at the High Court premises.
In a formal notice, the Association stated that all members are requested to abstain from proceedings in Court No. 1 for one day only, citing the “larger interest of the profession". The protest will be followed by all members wearing white ribbons as a peaceful demonstration of concern over unresolved administrative matters.
The background of the protest stems from the Association’s dissatisfaction with the refusal to consider proposed amendments to the constitution of benches—a matter which they argue has negatively impacted both the conduct of judicial proceedings and the professional interests of advocates.
