Adani Power inks PSA with MSEDCL to supply 1,600 MW of electricity

Mumbai, Jul 15 (UNI) Adani Power Ltd officially announced here on Wednesday that it has signed a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with the state-run Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) for the long-term supply of 1,600 MW of electricity from a new ultra-supercritical thermal power plant.
The agreement follows the Letter of Award (LoA) issued by the MSEDCL on March 15, after Adani Power emerged as the successful bidder in a competitive tender for long-term supply of 1,600 MW.
As per the bid, the company had quoted a first-year tariff of Rs 5.30 per kWh, with power supply scheduled to commence from FY31.
According to a company statement, the power will be supplied from a 2x800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant to be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own & Operate (DBFOO) model.
The power project has also secured domestic coal linkage under the central government's SHAKTI policy, providing long-term fuel security for the plant, according to the company statement.
At the time of receiving the LoA, Adani Power had stated that the MSEDCL contract was its fifth long-term PSA win during FY 25-26, taking its cumulative long-term contracted capacity under new projects to 13.3 GW out of its 23.8 GW under-implementation pipeline.
The company had also mentioned that more than 95 per cent of its operational capacity and more than 55 per cent of its upcoming capacity were tied up under medium-to long-term power supply agreements, which provides revenue visibility.
Incidentally, Adani Power is in the process of expanding its generation capacity from about 18.15 GW to 41.87 GW by FY2031-32 as part of an investment programme of around Rs 2 lakh crore, as reported earlier. UNI BA SAS
