Adani Group plans Rs 50,000 to 60,000 Cr investment in Bihar: Gautam Adani

Patna, May 17 (UNI) Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, Sunday announced that the conglomerate plans to invest around Rs 50,000 crore and Rs 60,000 crore in Bihar across multiple sectors, including power, roads, and infrastructure.
Speaking to reporters after attending a function at Akhanda Jyoti Eye Hospital in Saran district, Adani said Bihar holds immense investment potential and is witnessing a steady return to its historic prominence. He praised the hardworking nature of the people and noted that the state government is driving growth across sectors.
He highlighted that the group is already investing around Rs 27,000 crore to set up a 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district, which he described as the largest private sector investment in Bihar's power sector. The project, he said, will help the state move towards energy self-reliance.
Adani further said that through Indian Oil Adani Gas Pvt. Ltd., city gas distribution networks are being developed in Gaya and Nalanda districts. Additionally, Adani Energy Solutions Limited is installing nearly 3 million smart meters in North Bihar to modernize the power distribution system.
The group is also expanding its footprint in the cement sector, with plans to set up two grinding units of 6 million tonnes per annum capacity each in Nawada and Muzaffarpur, involving a combined investment of around Rs 3,000 crore.
Adani said discussions are underway with the government for road projects, and opportunities in broader infrastructure development are being explored. "Overall, the Adani Group will invest around Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 crore in Bihar," he added.
He also emphasised the group's commitment to rural healthcare, noting that the Adani Foundation is supporting eye care initiatives in collaboration with Akhanda Jyoti Eye Hospital to provide free treatment to underprivileged populations in rural areas. The hospital network is expanding to multiple locations across the state.
Highlighting social initiatives, Adani said the Foundation's Vision Care Programme, launched in 2024, has so far screened nearly 1.93 lakh people and distributed around 59,000 free spectacles across 11 states. He added that the rural eye care initiative in Bihar is part of the same commitment to accessible healthcare.
He also noted that the Adani Foundation will complete 30 years in August 2026, reaffirming its continued focus on service and community welfare.
