ACB traps executive engineer taking Rs 70,000 bribe in Chaibasa

Ranchi, Dec 13 (UNI) Ths Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday caught Arun Kumar Singh, Executive Engineer of the Building Division, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs70,000 in Chaibasa, headquarters of West Singhbhum district. The arrest has sent shockwaves through the department.
According to ACB officials, the engineer was accused of demanding a bribe in lieu of clearing payment or moving forward a file related to a construction work. A formal complaint was lodged with the ACB, and following a preliminary verification that found the allegations to be true, a trap was planned.
As per the strategy, the complainant was sent with the bribe amount on Saturday. The moment the executive engineer accepted the Rs 70,000, the ACB team apprehended him on the spot. The accused was immediately taken into custody and brought to the ACB office for interrogation.
