ACB acting like a recovery agent, not an investigating agency: Babulal Marandi

Ranchi, Jan 13 (UNI) Jharkhand BJP state president and Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi on Tuesday strongly criticised the functioning of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), alleging that instead of conducting a fair investigation into the alleged liquor scam, the agency is operating like a recovery agent.
Marandi said that in the name of probing the liquor scam in Jharkhand, a sccam within a scam is unfolding. He alleged that the real purpose behind arrests made by the ACB is not to bring the guilty to justice, but to instil fear among the accused and fix rates for settlements. He claimed that once deals are finalised behind the scenes and money changes hands, the charge sheets are deliberately delayed, enabling influential accused to secure bail easily.
The BJP leader alleged that the ACB has lost its credibility as an investigating agency and is misleading the public by creating an illusion of action, while protecting big fish involved in the scam. He asserted that only central agencies can now put an end to what he described as a systematic cover-up.
