Abhishek Sharma opens up on emotional journey to T20 WC glory

Ahmedabad, March 8 (UNI) Abhishek Sharma, a key performer for India in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, revealed the emotional rollercoaster he faced during the tournament, crediting the unwavering support of his team for his eventual success.
Sharma admitted that a string of low scores early in the tournament had tested his confidence. “There were moments I asked myself, why is this happening to me? But the coach, Gautam Gambhir, and captain, Suryakumar Yadav, had faith in me,” he said.
Playing his first World Cup, Sharma described the pressures of representing India on cricket’s biggest stage. “It wasn’t easy as a young player, just one or two years in the team. Everyone – teammates, coaches, support staff – kept saying, ‘You’re going to win one big game.’ That belief kept me going,” he added.
