Abandoned houses burnt by Kuki miscreants near military encampment in Manipur : two nabbed

Imphal, July 11 UNI : A few abandoned houses of residents belonging to the Meitei community near a security encampment at a village in Imphal West district were burnt on Saturday by a mob of Kuki miscreants evoking wide spread condemnations.
Two persons were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the incident, inviting condemnation from Chief Minister Y Khemchand, his predecessor N Biren and others.
A rally was taken out by some Kuki people near the Leimakhong military headquarter and they marched towards a Meitei village, Kanta Sabal, and burnt about six houses. Most of those taking part in the rally were carrying petrol and other inflammable items as per videos which went viral in the state. The Manipur crisis in May 3, 2023 also started after a rally in Churachandpur district turned violent after those who took part in the rally marched towards several villages inhabited by Meitei and burnt their houses.
