AAP Mizoram slams ZPM government over election timing

Aizawl, Jan 21 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Mizoram has criticised the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) government for causing significant disruption to students and teachers by scheduling village council (VC) and local council (LC) elections in February, a month when examinations are slated to take place.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, AAP’s state unit demanded an explanation from the state government for reducing the tenure of VCs and LCs by six months, a decision that necessitated elections during the examination period.
The academic calendar of the state school education department schedules promotional exams for primary, middle, and high schools in February, while the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) has also planned its High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exams in the same month.
